We are looking for a Sr. Underwriting Specialist to join our team in Naperville, IL!
Under broad management direction, independently works at the highest authority limits on assignments reflecting the highest degree of technical complexity and coordination. Underwrites and markets assigned products by delivering highest levels of risk assessment and technical underwriting expertise to determine underwriting acceptability. May provide highest level of financial analysis to determine credit quality. Often one-of-a-kind subject matter expert with national responsibility; not part of the normal career path.
A typical day will include the following:
Conducts analysis and applies appropriate underwriting techniques necessary to make an accurate evaluation of acceptability of risk. May evaluate credit quality.
Prepares and participates in marketing activities within the region to promote the development of new business.
Prepares most complex underwriting submissions, making recommendations and/or decisions within established authority limits. Minimum authority is $2,000,000 (Surety).
May ensure credit quality of accounts managed while maintaining and updating underwriting files.
Prepares and participates in proposals to producers and/or accounts negotiating terms and conditions.
Manages and participates in the producer management process, which may include, but is not limited to, premium collections.
Delivers technical guidance as a company consultant in the field providing assistance and training to lower level associates.
Mentors, trains and/or supervises less experienced underwriters and/or support staff.
Bachelor’s degree; minimum 5+ years related industry/underwriting experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. P&C Licenses preferred, not required.
