Duties

We are looking for a Surety Sr. Specialty Underwriter to join our team  in Ewing NJ.!.

Summary -
 

Under limited direction, independently underwrites and markets assigned products by providing high levels of risk assessment and technical underwriting expertise to determine underwriting acceptability.  May provide high level of financial analysis to determine credit quality.


A typical day will include the following:  

• Gathers and analyzes information, applying appropriate underwriting techniques necessary to make an accurate evaluation of credit quality and acceptability of the risk.
• Prepares and participates in marketing activities within the region to promote the development of new business. Participates in producer management, including premium collections.
• Prepares underwriting submissions, making recommendations and/or decisions within established authority limits.   Minimum authority is $1,000,000 (Surety).
• Maintains and updates underwriting files to ensure credit quality of accounts managed.
• Prepares and participates in proposals to producers and/or accounts negotiating terms and conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Minimum 5 years’ related Surety Commercial UW experience within P&C Commercial Insurance
• AFSB Designation preferred but not required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience growing a book of business
• Experience with client relationship management
• Strong negotiation skills
• Solid multitasking skills and the ability to meet hard deadlines on multiple proposals, accounts and projects
• Excellent reporting skills
• Ability and background to be easily trained
